What Is Your Rank In Search Results?

If you have a website, you should know how well you rank in Google's search engine. Google holds over 65% of the search market share, and Google has made it easy to get this information with its free tools. You can find out information like top page content, number of visitors in a time period, what types of browsers and mobile devices are used to access your content, and much more.

Google provides all of this in Google Analytics and Google Webmaster Tools. Google Analytics code needs to be on every page in your site for the information mentioned above to be collected.  Google Webmaster Tools will tell you information about your homepage and internal page search rank.

Don’t be fooled by your own Google searching to tell you your rank. If you have a Google account signed in during search, numerous additional factors are taken into account to show results. Even when not logged in to Google, your city and distance to the location, which may be the address you are located at, actually makes a difference to search.

One of the best features in Google Analytics is flow visualization. In short, this tool allows you to graphically see how site visitors move through your site. You can also see where visitors drop off.  By setting the base perspective to source, you can see something like the image here pulled from a sample on Google’s site.

If you already have Google Analytics setup, you’ll find this visualizer on the left hand navigation menu, where you’ll see a new “Visitors Flow” link under the Visitors section. If you do not have Google Analytics setup on your site, contact us today for a free estimate of what it would take to add this valuable tool to your website.
