If you’ve ever seen this message, it means you’re using an outdated version of your web browser, or the website you’re trying to view wasn’t developed to be viewed on the browser you’re using.

How can you avoid browser support issues?

Using the most up to date web browser can be a simple, but necessary step to viewing websites as they were intended to be seen. Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Apple Safari, and Microsoft Edge are all browsers that update automatically to the most recent version of the software.

The Microsoft Dilemma

Before Windows 10 and Microsoft Edge, Internet Explorer came preinstalled on Windows devices, and this browser did not automatically update. If someone bought a device with Internet Explorer 9 installed, and didn’t know they needed to update their browser, they could still be using that outdated browser today.

On top of this, Microsoft Edge is a part of the Windows 10 operating system. If you are using a previous version of Windows, whether its because your business won’t update or your refuse to update, you will not be able to use Microsoft’s most up to date web browsing software.

If you do still happen to be using Internet Explorer without access to Microsoft Edge, you can freely download Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox using the links above, and enjoy a smooth and up-to-date browsing experience.

Website Development and Browser Support

At Immerge, we develop websites optimized for the current and previous browser versions. This ensures that you website will work properly on the most up-to-date browsers, but it cannot be guaranteed that websites will be forward compatible. Generally, if it works on the current and previous versions of these updated browsers, it will work for most versions of those browsers.

We have recently updated changes in our Service Level Agreement to reflect this support, and removed Internet Explorer from our list of supported web browsers.

Which browsers are being used to view your website?

If you manage a website, and have access to your websites analytical data, you can see which browser’s people are using to view your website most often. This information can be important in discerning which browsers you need to optimize for  in your website development.
